NEW DELHI STUDENTS TO REPRESENT INDIA AT ISEF 2013

New Delhi, 13 May, 2013:  3 of India’s next generation innovators from New Delhi will represent the nation at the 2013 Intel® International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) to be held in Phoenix, Arizona from May 12-17, 2013. These are Akshat Boobna from Amity International School, Saket along with Ishani Goomer and Khanak Bhargava from Amity International School, Mayur Vihar, who have made the entire nation proud by being amongst approximately 1,600 finalists from across the globe to be a part of the world’s largest pre-college science fair, and the only global science competition for students in grades 8-12.

Intel® ISEF is a program run by the Society for Science & the Public (SSP) in partnership with Intel Corporation. The premier global science competition provides an annual forum to pre-college students across the world to display their independent research.
Commenting on the same, Akshat Boobna said “I am extremely excited to be a part of such an esteemed global platform. It would be a great occasion for learning and I look forward to make my country proud. I am indeed thankful to Intel to give me this opportunity.” Ishani Goomer and Khanak Bhargava also echoed similar sentiments.

Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable. This is a fatally flawed trend which will destroy the very foundations of our democratic institutions if not pushed back with all the strength and condemnation that the civil society can mobilise. Replaying the past To begin with, it must be clarified that we should ...
