‘At the Dawn of the Century of Reason’ Dr. Oscar Arias Sanchez

March 28,2014: Sagar Media Inc – Dr. Oscar Arias Sanchez, Former President of the Republic of Costa Rica and  Nobel Peace Prize Laureate (1987) spoke on ‘At the Dawn of the Century of Reason’ at Nehru Memorial & Museum library. As an apostle of peace he raised  interesting points regarding growing menace of  nuclears arm race in the world. The five top countries to invest in this dreaded race are China, Pakistan, India, Singapore and South korea.He said this century is dedicated to Asia and in India where 1.5 millions engineers graduate and thus are seen as envious work force of the present and future.
Dr Oscar made compassionate appeal that in the 7 billion of globe population in which one billion die of over eating and two billions suffer due under nourished food ,millions die of diseases like malaria. Knowingly world instead of spending on such priorities spends on arms race. He made promising appeal to world to practice peace for the prosperity of the global citizens.

Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable.
