ASSISTANCE TO DISTRESSED FISHING BOAT BY INDIAN COAST GUARD


  1. In an incidence on 18 Nov 16, the Indian Coast Guard Ship Arush doused a major fire onboard Indian fishing  boat  Krishna Raj off Porbandar and assisted  in   rescue of fishermen  from distressed  boat. The boat had a total 05 crew onboard.
  1. The Coast Guard District Headquarter Porbandar had received a telephonic message from President, Fishermen Association Porbandar intimating about major fire onboard fishing boat Krishna Raj 14 nm off Porbandar.
  1. Upon receipt of information, Indian Coast Guard Ship Arush was diverted for rendering assistance to the distressed boat.  On arrival the Indian Coast Guard ship with the assistance of other fishing boats in the area fought the fire and were able to extinguish the fire in about one and half hours.
4       The fishing boat Hans Devi carried the two casualties onboard. Upon examination by Coast Guard medical team, one person was found dead and another crew was observed with minor burn injury and was in a state of shock.  The medical assistance was provided to the injured crew.
  1. The boat was later towed with remaining 03 crew onboard by another fishing boat DIXA to Porbandar.

Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence.
