Dear FICCI-ILIA family,

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year! We are delighted to announce that we have recently completed the milestone of becoming 250 members strong. Our heartiest congratulations to all of you.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all of you for your support in making the past one yearan exceptional journey. FICCI-ILIA, despite being in its infancy, has been part of successful collaborations with TDIL, MeitY; National E-Governance Division (NeGD); Government e-Marketing (GeM), Ministry of Commerce; Bengaluru Tech Summit, 2018; and The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

We are currently planning our activities for 2019. It would be nice to understand your vision for the association, and hopefully partner with you this year to further the intent and vision for this strategic initiative.

We invite you to send in your suggestions to us on this email id by January 17, 2019. Suggestions could be in the form of capacity development ideas, advocacy initiatives, feedback on policies, event ideas, workshops etc or anything that you consider is the need of the industry.

FICCI-ILIA as a community is rich with experience, knowledge and expertise. Therefore we would also like to know how would you want to engage and collaborate with us to implement your suggested ideas.

Lastly, given that so far the membership of FICCI-ILIA has been by invitation, our focus as an industry alliance this year is also to ensure that the initiatives that we undertake are financially sustainable. Your perspective, ideas, and contribution for the same is highly desirable.

You may also reach out to me on +91 9920174287 to share your ideas.

Looking forward to hearing from you to help build a more stronger and sustainable Indic languages community.

Warm regards,
Bharat Kumar Kundra

Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable. This is a fatally flawed trend which will destroy the very foundations of our democratic institutions if not pushed back with all the strength and condemnation that the civil society can mobilise. Replaying the past To begin with, it must be clarified that we should ...
