Banning Gita as a propagation of terror is absurd:Dr Parvin

Banning Shreemad Bhagwad Gita is equal to Declaring War against Bharat!
Dr Pravin Togadia

New Delhi / Guruvayur / Kochi; December 20, 2011

Condemning strongly the very act of even admitting a case in the court of Tomsk in Russia’s Siberia, which terms Bhagwan Shri Krishna’s Bhagwad Gita as a propagation of Terror & a black book, VHP International Working President Dr Pravin Togadia demanded immediate dismissal of the case & prosecution against those who dared to file such an obnoxious case against the religious scripture revered so highly by Bharat’s majority.

Dr Togadia also questioned Govt of India’s studied silence on this issue for such a long time as even during the visit of Hon. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to Russia last week, there was mute silence on his part on this issue hurting majority Hindus & global devotees of Bhagwan Krishna immensely. He welcomed the delayed but powerful unanimous voice raised by almost all Members of Parliament of Bharat against such a derogatory case against Bhagwad Gita. He also appealed to the Hon. Prime Minister of Bharat & External Affairs Ministers to be at least true to their own names if not for the majority Hindus & prevent Russia & its judiciary from banning Bhagwad Gita in any form.

Bhagwad Gita is not just a mere book of Shlokas but Gita is a Bhagwan by Herself for the Krishna devotees & all Hindus. The principles taught in Bhagwad Gita are universal & touch humanity so very deeply that from Albert Einstein to Swami Vivekananda, Lokmanya Tilak, ISCON Aacharya Prabhupada Swamyji, Shankaracharyas & many respected knowledgeable erudite people have revered & preached Bhagwad Gita globally & nationally which is followed by millions of devotees. An important part of the grand epic Mahabharata, the Bhagwad Gita guides human beings right from his birth to the end & even beyond. From Gita Press to Gita Pariwar many are doing efforts to reach these great teachings globally to help humanity.

Dr Togadia questioned the very motive by the Russian Government to even allow such a case to be admitted. Expressing distress & shock, he said, “Just because there is political instability in Russia, to divert public attention from the real local issues, it seems that there is a socio-political motive behind such a racially motivated move. Russia itself is fighting Jehadi terror day in & day out from Chechnya & yet terming not Quran, but Bhagwad Gita a terror book is ridiculous & insinuating to all Hindus & Krishna devotees globally. Bharat always looked up to Russia as a friend & even Russia stood by Bharat in the past. But banning Bhagwad Gita is the first sign of a religious war against Bharat; if not so then the Russian Government must make Siberian authorities prosecute those who filed such a derogatory case against Bhagwad Gita.” He appealed to all devotees not just of Bhagwan Krishna but also all followers of truth & Dharma to oppose any such move to ban Bhagwad Gita.

Dr Togadia appealed to all in Bharat to do democratic & peaceful demonstrations against banning Bhagwad Gita in Russia. He also suggested that if the case continued & the Bhagwad Gita is banned then entire Bharat will express feelings by public agitations against Russian goods, Russian plans & offices as well as against the Govt of India if it allows the ban on Bhagwad Gita by anyone anywhere.

Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable. This is a fatally flawed trend which will destroy the very foundations of our democratic institutions if not pushed back with all the strength and condemnation that the civil society can mobilise. Replaying the past To begin with, it must be clarified that we should ...
