Olympics Silver Medallist Vijay Kumar Associates with Manav Rachna International University
In order to mentor budding shooters, Manav Rachna International University ropes in the Olympic Silver medallist Vijay Kumar and adds another feather to its cap
Faridabad, 19th December’ 2012: Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) announced its association with the Olympic Silver medallist Vijay Kumar to guide, train and mentor the budding shooters at the University, today. Vijay Kumar has enrolled himself in the University for his higher education and will be guiding the students at the facility. This association will be an opportunity of a lifetime for the budding shooters to grapple the guideline by the renowned Mr. Vijay Kumar, the London Olympics silver medallist 25 metre rapid fire pistol.
After Gagan Narang-the alumni of the University, it is now Vijay Kumar whose name will now be associated with Manav Rachna Educational Institutes (MREI). “The shooting range that we have at MRIU, is a world class facility for budding shooters and has been exclusively established under the guidance of ace shooters including Gagan Narang, Anurag Singh and Anisha Khan”, said Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director of Sports, MRIU. “It is indeed a moment of pride for us that Mr. Vijay Kumar has chosen our University for his higher education and practise as well”, he added.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vijay Kumar said, “It will be wonderful to be associated with students once again as while teaching you also tend to learn a lot. The staff and people at MRIU have been very supportive and I look forward to my journey here”. “The shooting range at the campus of the University is an excellent facility and will definitely help India produce many more champions in the times to come”, he added.
On the occasion, Dr. O.P. Bhalla, Chancellor, MRIU said, “We are pleased to have Mr. Vijay Kumar at our campus. This will surely provide an opportunity to our budding students to watch, interact and learn from International Shooter in action.”
The winner of five gold medals, four silver and two bronze medals was cheered all the way from the city to the university board room by sports lovers from Faridabad and Haryana along with a huge crowd of students who almost thronged the university campus to get a glimpse of one of the country’s most successful sporting icon.
