Neha eyes hat-trick at BPGC

Neha Tripathi in actionHero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2016
Mumbai, February 22, 2016:  After consecutive victories in the last two events, Neha Tripathi will look to keep the momentum going and will aim for her third title on the trot in the fifth Leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club. The INR 6,00,000 event will see 18 professionals vying for the top honours and will be played from 23rd – 25th February.
Neha is currently placed third in the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of INR 2,78,500 in four appearances and will be eager to continue the winning run. However, the professional from Kolkata will be up against a strong field and will face a stiff challenge from the likes of Smriti Mehra, Kiran Matharu, Sharmila Nicollet and Gursimar Badwal.
Overseas player Kiran Matharu currently leads the Hero Order of Merit with total earnings of INR 3,16,000 with two runner-up finishes in four appearances. She is yet to win a title this season and will be keen to break the jinx at this event. Gursimar Badwal has been a consistent performer on the Tour but has struggled to capitalise on some crucial situations in the field. The professional from Kapurthala will be eager to make amends and will push for her maiden professional title.
Kolkata’s Smriti Mehra, placed sixth on the money list with total earnings of INR 2,43,300, hasn’t been at her best in the present season and will be eyeing a turnaround at BPGC. Hero Motocorp sponsored Bengaluru golfer Sharmila Nicollet has only played in the last two events and is still searching for her first victory. She would be keen to end the drought with a win in Mumbai. This event will also see Sonam Chugh, a well known name in corporate golf, making her debut as a professional on the Tour. Other golfers to watch out for are Pune’s Shweta Galande, Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma and the Delhi duo of Ankita Tiwana and Mehar Atwal.
The Bombay Presidency Golf Club is one of the oldest and most renowned golf courses in Mumbai. The picturesque par 70 golf course is all set to test the players with its tight fairways and unpredictable sea breeze.

Aag Ka Gola, Shola Aur Shabnam

Too many *beeps* in your movie? Tell Shyam Benegal that mindless censorship should be stopped.

Dear Naresh,
We are being treated like 5-year-olds. Movies likeJames Bond & Deadpool are being released in India with distracting cuts and *beeps*. We have just 2 daysto tell Shyam Benegal that we don’t want mindless censorshipSign my petition andshare it on Facebook.

Dear Naresh,
Aag Ka Gola, Shola Aur Shabnam. Sexual Innuendo & long kisses.
The man responsible for B-grade movies in the 90s is now deciding what adults can and can’t watch in the theatres.
It has become impossible to watch movies in the theatre. Thanks to cuts and *beeps* you can’t understand half the movie.
This is ridiculous. The Censor Board is treating us like 5-year-olds.
Movies rated Adult in India should not be subject to mindless censorship and useless cuts. Sign my petition.
Shyam Benegal a respected filmmaker is heading acommittee to look at reforms to the Censor Board. He is asking us for our suggestions. 25th February is the deadline.
If thousands of signatures and mails go to him, he will be forced to take our demand into consideration.
We only have a few days left. Help me reach at least 10,000 signaturesSign my petition and ask your friends to do the same.
Naresh, let’s put an end to mindless censorship.

Rouhani wins Iran's Presidential election Moderate cleric Hassan Rouhani won Iran's presidential election on Saturday, the interior ministry said, scoring a surprising landslide victory over conservative hardliners without the need of a second round run-off.Interior minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar announced on state television that Rouhani secured just over 50 percent of the ballot based on a 72 percent turnout of 50 million eligible voters. Mr Hassan Rouhani ... got the absolute majority of votes and was elected as president," Najjar said. Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, a hard-line conservative, lagged behind with about 16 percent of the votes. Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, he too a hard-line conservative, earned 11 percent. The voter turnout was 72.7 percent. President-elect Hassan Rohani, sixty four years old, is known as a moderate conservative. He has been stressing the need to improve ties with Western nations, and is back...
Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable. This is a fatally flawed trend which will destroy the very foundations of our democratic institutions if not pushed back with all the strength and condemnation that the civil society can mobilise. Replaying the past To begin with, it must be clarified that we should ...
