Egypt, the ruling military council Chief Field Marshal Hussein said,
the country is facing unprecedented grave dangers but the military will
protect it. In a statement today, Tantawi called on Egyptians to foil
the schemes and conspiracies against Egypt. He said armed forces will
hand over the reins to an elected civilian administration. Experts say
the remarks are aimed at rallying public opinion against a series of
protests in the run up to completion of one year of overthrow of Mubarak
regime. The activists have planned a series of protests to mark next
week’s first anniversary of the start of the uprising. The Egyptian
Government has launched a media campaign warning of a plot to
destabilize the nation on the anniversary.
Rouhani wins Iran's Presidential election Moderate cleric Hassan Rouhani won Iran's presidential election on Saturday, the interior ministry said, scoring a surprising landslide victory over conservative hardliners without the need of a second round run-off.Interior minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar announced on state television that Rouhani secured just over 50 percent of the ballot based on a 72 percent turnout of 50 million eligible voters.
