Shri S.R. Rao, Secretary- Department of Commerce, inaugurated MMTC Limited’s ‘Festival of Gold’ and launched MMTC’s exclusive jewellery brand Sanchi on the inaugural day of the golden extravaganza on 2nd November 2012 at the Convention Hall, Hotel Ashok, New Delhi. The brand showcases contemporary designer jewellery in gold, diamond, and silver, and has been fashioned in sync with fast changing market trends to target a youthful profile of customers along with its current die-hard clientele fascinated with gold.
The Festival of Gold is the largest gold jewellery exhibition-cum-sale of its kind providing the customers an opportunity to purchase hallmarked jewellery from various parts of India and value-added bullion products under a single roof. The much awaited Festival of Gold 2012 is being held up to Dhanteras on 11th November, 2012, and is open to the public from 10.30 am to 8.30 pm on all days.
Speaking on the event, Shri Rao was all praise for the wide display of rich craftsmanship from diverse regions of India and lauded the efforts of MMTC as a Govt. of India enterprise to take the lead year after year to progressively organize such exhibitions of hallmarked jewellery for the customers and trade. “The central theme of MMTC’s Festival of Gold is purity and variety. The precious and diamond stones in studded jewellery are accompanied by certificate issued by an accredited agency. The gold and studded jewellery from all over India are available under a single roof. I am happy to note that MMTC is also launching its own jewellery range by the name of Sanchi.”
2012-13 is the Golden Jubilee year of MMTC Limited as the company completes 50 glorious years since its inception in 1963. The commencement of MMTC’s 50th year accompanied the launch of a special 50th year insignia for the Company. MMTC as a brand aims to strike a balance between tradition and modernity, and now in its 50th year, continues to aim at surpassing its earlier best.
Shri D.S. Dhesi, Chairman and Managing Director – MMTC, said, “MMTC’s Festival of Gold is eagerly awaited by the general public. The designs of the jewellery are an amalgamation of indigenous Indian creativity, elegance and uniqueness.  The effort of MMTC is to provide customers with jewellery and bullion products which provide value for money. The objective of the exhibitions is to offer hallmarked gold jewellery and at affordable prices.”
The Festival of Gold 2012 will be a step towards meeting MMTC’s objectives of fulfilling the need for protecting consumer rights and meeting the demand for standardization of gold and to provide the best to the consumers with assurance of quality. The grand exhibition is set to dazzle one and all with handpicked collections of plain gold and studded jewellery from many states of India, like Delhi, Maharashtra, Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Goa. Special Bridal jewellery collections, Gold & Silver Medallions in various denominations, and MMTC’s latest range of silverware gift and puja items for Dhanteras and Diwali add to the attractions.
MMTC’s other showrooms at Jhandewalan, SCOPE Complex, MMTC Colony, IPL Swarnalaya, Pusa Road (Opp. Siddharth Hotel) and Cross River Mall outlets will also be open till 11th November 2012, serving customers’ needs for gold and silver medallions, silverware and jewellery for Dhanteras and Diwali.
Launched at the Festival of Gold in a new extended avatar, MMTC’s jewellery brand Sanchi has been fabricated by young designers with a passion and zeal for keeping the golden art of jewellery craftsmanship in sync with modern times. The brand offers contemporary designs in 14 & 18 carat that are versatile, lightweight and wearable, and will cater to varied preferences.
Retail focus by the Precious Metals Division of MMTC this year will be on setting up of retail outlets in prominent places, focus on local/regional exhibitions and on the Festival of Gold, standardization of MMTC Jewels showrooms, introduction of new options for the youth in terms of fashionable and lightweight jewellery, introduction of new silverware items for festive season, appointments of corporate/institutions as exclusive stockists, etc.
