AAM AADMI PARTY DEMANDS SETTING UP OF CITIZENS SECURITY FORCE
DEMANDS IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF HOME MINISTER AND DELHI POLICE COMMISSIONER
The recent incident of rape of 5-year old girl in Gandhi Nagar has once again raised question about women safety in the National Capital. After Damini incident shook the entire country in December, tall claims were made by the government about security of women and subsequently a law was passed. Unfortunately, despite all these nothing has changed much – not even the attitude of Delhi Police. The common people of Delhi have started losing faith in Delhi Police.  The Delhi Police should be given 2 months time to rectify its past failures and regain the faith of people, else Aam Aadmi Party proposes the setting up of  Citizen’s Security Force for ensuring that no girl child or women goes through what Damini and now Gudiya has gone through.
The Citizen Security Force will be formed on the lines of Nitish Kumar’s State Auxiliary Police (SAP) in Bihar and would be supervised by retired Army officers. Young people would be enrolled in the Force would be given commando training to handle all kinds of situation, especially those related to women safety. These cadets would work under retired army officers and would be present at Ward level. This force would work as security guards and would ensure security of all Delhi-ites at all possible levels. When Aam Aadmi Party comes to power this would be one of the priority areas and would be implemented at the earliest. Unlike other parties, where VVIP security is given more priority, AAP would focus on security for aam aadmi of the national capital.
Not even 48 hours have passed that several incidents of insensitiveness of police has come to the fore – in East Delhi itself. A 25 year old girl working in Dharmshilla Hospital has been missing for the past one week. The police filed an FIR after 3 days of the incident. When her worried parents went to the Police Station to follow up the case, the police inspector on duty told them, “Kahin ghumne gayi hogi, 14-15 din baad khud vapas aa jayegi.” In another shocking case, a 14-year old girl was kept in confinement and gang raped from March 14-24. When the girl’s parents went to get a FIR filed, the police refused to do so initially. Finally the case was registered after the parents mounted pressure on the Police. Unfortunately, the girl who was not able to cope up with the incident consumed pesticide and is now battling for her life in Hegdewar Hospital in Karkardooma.
Who is responsible for the plight of these young girls? Delhi Police and Delhi Government is equally to blame. Whenever such an incident comes to light, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit quickly brushes aside all allegations against state government by saying that the Delhi Police does not come under the state. The Congress also rules at the Centre – so is this not a clear case of match-fixing between Sheila Dikshit and Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. On the other hand, the Delhi Police on its part has suspended a few junior police-officers for the sake of taking some action. After a few days, the officers who are suspended would be reinstated and continue their service, without anyone noticing. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister have expressed their grief over the incident. How will the statements of PM expressing grief ensure security to women? What is his action plan? Does the solution lies in reforming Police?
The solution to this is setting up of a Special Security Force dedicated to women. The country has heard enough of assurances and verbal promises, it is time for action now. Aam Aadmi Party demands removal of Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Delhi Police Commissioner at the earliest.
AAM AADMI PARTY DENIES REPORTS OF FIGHTING JOINT ELECTIONS IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH
It has been reported today that Aam Aadmi Party would jointly contest elections along with NCP and People Party of Arunachal (PPA) in forthcoming panchayat and municipal elections in the Arunachal Pradesh. Aam Aadmi Party wishes to clarify that the news is completely false and baseless. Aam Aadmi Party has no plans to contest panchayat and municipal elections in Arunachal Pradesh, let alone fighting jointly with NCP and PPA.

Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable. This is a fatally flawed trend which will destroy the very foundations of our democratic institutions if not pushed back with all the strength and condemnation that the civil society can mobilise. Replaying the past To begin with, it must be clarified that we should ...
