The Aam Aadmi Party demands a probe into the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) decision to allow installation of atleast 450 private telecom towers in its parks in residential areas across the national capital.
The AAP has received complaints from residents of Dwarka that in atleast 45 neighbourhood parks of the area, DDA granted permission to Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited on October 31 to set-up mobile telecom towers and the installation work has been started (Please find a copy of the DDA letter attached with this press release).
Acording to the DDA notification, it is clear that it is proposed to set-up atleast 450 such towers across Delhi (Please find the DDA notification attached with this release).
The DDA action violates the Rajasthan High Court judgment of November 2012, which was upheld by the Supreme Court that mobile towers cannot be installed in the vicinity of children playgrounds, schools and hospitals, citing emission of electromagnetic radiations.
It is clear that no installation which poses a health hazard can be allowed in any residential area and the DDA decision appears to have been made under pressure.
According to the Rajasthan High Court verdict, upheld by the Supreme Court, radiations emitted from mobile base towers are “hazardous to children and elder citizens”. It had cited the findings of an inter-ministerial committee of the central government, and directed relocation of these towers immediately.
The AAP demands that the central government should immediately order a probe into why the DDA rushed through this controversial decision without consulting the residents of the area.

The Centre must direct the DDA to immediately stop installation of any further towers in parks adjoining residential areas.

No tower should be installed in violation of established guidelines and without consulting the residents of the area.

Mr Hassan Rouhani ... got the absolute majority of votes and was elected as president," Najjar said. Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, a hard-line conservative, lagged behind with about 16 percent of the votes. Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, he too a hard-line conservative, earned 11 percent. The voter turnout was 72.7 percent. President-elect Hassan Rohani, sixty four years old, is known as a moderate conservative. He has been stressing the need to improve ties with Western nations, and is back...
Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable. This is a fatally flawed trend which will destroy the very foundations of our democratic institutions if not pushed back with all the strength and condemnation that the civil society can mobilise. Replaying the past To begin with, it must be clarified that we should ...
