The 5th National Telecom Awards 2011 were presented at Siri Fort, Delhi on 17th   May, 2011 by Hon’ble Sh Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce and Industries, Hon’ble Sh. Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communications and IT with Dr JS Sarma, Chairman TRAI. Briefly, the First National Telecom Awards were presented in the year  2007 by Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, the then Hon'ble Minister of State for Communications & IT  followed by  the 2008 awards being presented by the then Hon'ble Union Minister for Communications and IT. The 2009 Awards were presented by Shri Gurudas Kamat, Hon'ble Minister of State for Communications IT, the then Secretary DOT, Chairman TRAI  and the 2010 National Telecom Awards were presented by Shri Kariya Munda, Dy Speaker Lok Sabha, Dr Mukul Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Vincent Pala, Minister of State for Water Resources, Dr. J S Sarma, ChairmanT R A I, Shri P J Thomas, the then Secretary Telecom and Chairman Telecom Commission.
