CLARK, PAMPANGA, 28 February 2012: Philippines AirAsia Inc. celebrates its first promotion by offering 20,000 free seats for its direct flights to Davao and Kalibo from its hub in Clark, Pampanga. The airline will begin servicing the route with two daily flights departing from Clark International Airport to Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao and Kalibo International Airport.

Guests are able to fly with all-in-fares from as low as P275 pesos (USD 7) one way. The P275 seat sale is actually a zero-fare promo where the seat is totally free and payment of P275 is to cover the fuel surcharge, processing fee and government mandated fees such as aviation security fee and VAT.

“The hype has been building up for Philippines’ AirAsia and today’s announcement is a much anticipated event. We are thrilled to offer 20,000 free seats to commemorate our launch. We look forward to personally welcoming our guests on our brand new, state-of-the-art Airbus A320 when we commence operations on the 28th of March,” said Marianne Hontiveros, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Inc.

Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable. This is a fatally flawed trend which will destroy the very foundations of our democratic institutions if not pushed back with all the strength and condemnation that the civil society can mobilise. Replaying the past To begin with, it must be clarified that we should ...
