MEDIA INVITE
THE EDITOR/ BUREAU CHIEF
Dear Sir/Madam,
Mewat Rights Group is organizing a convention on September 18, 2013 from 3-6pm at the Chairman Hall, Constitution Club , New Delhi.
Mewat is situated only 65kms away from the capital but even 66 years after the Independence due to political indifference and discrimination Mewat is one of the most backward regions of the country. Mewat has approximately 1200 villages (550 Haryana, 600 Rajasthan and 50 UP) and literacy levels are the lowest despite the proximity to the centre. Even when funds are allocated and projects sanctioned they are diverted out of Mewat to other regions. There is also a concerted effort for the past five years to target Mewat both as it is minority dominated and has land too close to the Gurgaon region which the big companies and land mafia wants to occupy.
Mewat RIghts Group, is a group of professionals, who have come together to fight for the rights of the region.
The convention apart from raising these issues also demands a university for higher education.
Speakers include: Dr Syeda Hameed, member planning commission, Yogendra Yadav, senior fellow, CSDS, social scientist, Shabnam Hashmi, social activist, Anhad and Shri Digvijay Singh, senior political leader.
We request you to kindly cover the programme.
Yours sincerely
Mewat Rights Watch Group
