Dipankar Kaushal maintains two-shot lead
Dipankar Kaushal maintains two-shot lead in round two
Lucknow’s Rajesh Kumar Rawat is second
Lucknow, July 11, 2018: Noida’s Dipankar Kaushal followed up his fiery first round of eight-under-62 with a steady one-under-69 in round two to maintain his two-shot lead at the PGTI Feeder Tour event being staged at the Palms Golf Club & Resort, Sushant Golf City, Ansal API in Lucknow.
The 32-year-old Kaushal (62-69) totalled nine-under-131 at the end of day two of the 2018 Feeder Tour season’s sixth and last event.
Lucknow golfers Rajesh Kumar Rawat (64-69) and Amardeep Rawat (65-69) continued in second and third place respectively for the second day in succession. Rajesh’s total stood at seven-under-133 while Amardeep had a tally of six-under-134.
The cut fell at two-over-142. Forty-four golfers made the cut out of a total of 82.
Dipankar, currently 15th on the Feeder Tour Order of Merit thanks to two top-10s in the season, now goes into the final round of an event as the leader for the first time in his career.
Kaushal, searching for his maiden title, began the second round with a birdie on the first. However, he lost some momentum by dropping strokes on the sixth and 10th courtesy a three-putt and a poor drive.
Dipankar then made a comeback on the back-nine with some brilliant iron-play. He almost made a hole-in-one on the 12th where his tee shot stopped two inches from the hole to set up an easy birdie. Kaushal then drove the green on the par-4 17th with his three-iron before making a two-putt for birdie there.
Kaushal said, “I didn’t hit it as well today as I had done in round one. The putts also didn’t roll in for me. However, a couple of exceptional tee shots on the back-nine helped me maintain my lead.
“In the final round, I’ll just look to repeat what I’ve done over the first two days.”
Local lad Rajesh Kumar Rawat built on his first round effort of 64 with a solid 69 on Wednesday that featured three birdies and two bogeys. The highlight of his second round was a spectacular chip on the 16th that led to a tap-in birdie.
Rawat, a former winner on the Feeder Tour, said, “The third place finish at the Lucknow Golf Club last week really helped my confidence. I’ve been quite consistent since then. I’m two off the lead now, so it’s all about creating those opportunities early during the final round.”
Amardeep Rawat, another Lucknow-based golfer who was runner-up at last week’s event, had an eventful second round as he produced an astounding two eagles along with two birdies at the cost of three bogeys and a double-bogey.
Feeder Tour Order of Merit leader Pawan Verma of Delhi returned an even-par-70 on day two to be placed tied seventh at four-under-136.
Kapurthala’s Ashbeer Saini, currently second in the Order of Merit, made the cut by one shot as he totalled two-over-142 to be tied 35th.
Gurugram-based Dhruv Sheoran, presently ranked third in the Order of Merit, posted the second day’s best score of 64 to be placed tied 17th at one-under-139.
Improve the Efficacy of School Feeding Programmes
Development Seminar |No Free Lunch: Using Technology to Improve the Efficacy of School Feeding Programmes
Friday, July 27, 2018, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Brookings India, No. 6, Second Floor, Dr. Jose P. Rizal Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi
Dear Mr. Sagar,
I am delighted to invite you to our next Development Seminar on “No Free Lunch: Using Technology to Improve the Efficacy of School Feeding Programmes” with Prof. Sisir Debnath, Assistant Professor, Indian School of Business.
Abstract: Malnutrition among vulnerable children is often targeted using free school feeding programmes in developing countries. Prof. Debnath studies the role of technology in improving the delivery of school feeding programmes. Using the rollout of a mobile-based monitoring mechanism (Interactive Voice Response System or IVRS) that aids in cross-tallying the number of beneficiaries in the delivery chain, he finds that increase in resulting accountability reduces leakages in school lunch provision in Bihar. He contrasts the provision of meals in districts of Bihar and its contiguous neighbouring states from an independent survey with the official state records. Independently collected data reveals that the technology reform increases the likelihood of lunch provision in a school by 20 percentage points and finds that the increase in take-up is also accompanied by an improvement in the quality and quantity of meals.
Speaker Profile: Sisir Debnath is an Assistant Professor in the Economics and Public Policy area at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He received his Ph. D., from the University of Virginia in 2013. His primary research interests are in the areas of health, gender, and education in developing countries. Some of his current research involves investigating the effects of the social network in affecting the demand for tertiary care for publicly provided health insurance in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. His other working projects evaluate the role of information and communication technology on the provision of public goods.

Rooter maps behavioural data of Indian football fans
Rooter maps behavioural data of Indian football fans to reveal interesting insights; football hubs Bengal & Kerala no longer support only big guns such as Brazil and Argentina
Data maps behaviour of more than 2 lakh football fans on
Rooter over the last 25 days
Rooter over the last 25 days
New Delhi, July 12, 2018:-As we near the end of the month-long greatest show on Earth, Rooter, the first-of-its-kind live social sports engagement platform, has captured data on the behaviour of more than 2 lakh football fans across India. The insights generated reveal a lot of interesting information on the country’s changing preferences as far as the game goes. The platform, which has endeared itself to sports enthusiasts across the country thanks to its innovative live sports fantasy gaming and other features, has captured and analyzed a huge amount of data from the massive user engagement it has managed to generate in the last 25 days, during the ongoing Football World Cup.
The data on Rooter maps user behaviour of nearly a million sports fans on board, across 8 different sports in India thereby making it the most reliable source of sports trends in the country. The behavioural data insights on football have indicated that India’s biggest footballing hubs-Bengal and Kerala-are slowly but surely breaking away from their almost fanatical and exclusive support for footballing giants Argentina and Brazil and have become much more accepting of other teams as potential title contenders. This conclusion is corroborated by the fact that Rooter’s app launches registered 21% less traction during Brazil’s matches & 33.3% less during Argentina’s compared to England’s matches in West Bengal. Furthermore, the passion for football is growing significantly among other states, with Maharashtra emerging particularly prominently as a big footballing market.
The report further underlines the popularity of Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo in India, with Messi emerging as Indian football fans’ most favorite player to be picked during Rooter’s Live Fantasy game. He is followed by Neymar Jr. and Ronaldo, with Brazilian attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho and English striker Harry Kane rounding off the list.
Commenting on the trends, Piyush, Founder & CEO, Rooter said, “For almost a month now, Indian football fans have followed their favorite players and teams most passionately. We have witnessed unparalleled growth in our engagement and app-interaction levels over the past few weeks. This puts us in a solid position to collate some of the trends noticed during this period, and it is extremely heartening to see football enthusiasts emerge from states such as Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana. The trends mapped, much like FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, have offered a few highly unpredictable results, which overall, make the growth of the beautiful game all the more exciting in India!”
The report has detailed the top 5 players for each position on Rooter, which are as follows-
1. Goalkeeper – Kasper Schmeichel, Danijel Subašić, Guillermo Ochoa, David Ospina, Thibault Courtois
2. Striker – Neymar, Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, Lionel Messi
3. Midfielder – Isco, Philippe Coutinho, Toni Kroos, Granit Xhaka, Luka Modric
4. Defender – Jordi Alba, Yuto Nagatomo, Marcus Rojo, Mario Figueira Fernandes, Kyle Walker.
About Rooter:
Rooter is the world’s first sports social gaming platform that connects sports fans and engages them during live sports matches. Rooter offers unique Live match prediction game, Live Fantasy Game and Sports Social Feed across 8 sports and enables a live chat forum where fans interact during live matches with fastest live scores and commentary. It provides a seamless mix of gaming, conversations, and Live scores. Elizabeth Denham to fine FacebookCA
UK’s Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham has announced that she intends to fine Facebook up to £500,000 (US$664,000) over the Cambridge Analytica Scandal, in which the social media giant failed to safeguard user’s information. “New technologies that use data analytics to micro-target people give campaign groups the ability to connect with individual voters. But this cannot be at the expense of transparency, fairness and compliance with the law,” she said, in a statement. Before a final decision is made on the fine, Facebook will have a chance to respond to the Information Commissioner’s Office. “We have been working closely with the ICO in their investigation of Cambridge Analytica, just as we have with authorities in the US and other countries. We’re reviewing the report and will respond to the ICO soon,” the company said. British firm Cambridge Analytica was forced to shut down in May after it was alleged to have acquired data on 87 million Facebook users, without their consent, to target them during political campaigns. The scandal sparked two separate investigations, one by the Electoral Commission, into the company’s role in former UKIP leader Nigel Farage’s Leave.EU campaign, and one by the Information Commissioner’s Office, which has announced a wider inquiry into the use of such data in politics. The company’s practices also led to a US Congressional inquiry. Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has apologized for his company’s handling of the Cambridge Analytica privacy scandal.
