“Introductory Teachings on Buddhism:His Holiness The Dalai Lama

on April 11, 2012
Dear Friend,
His Holiness The Dalai Lama has generously accepted a joint request from a number of Indian Buddhist sanghas, including the Foundation for Universal Responsibility to give “Introductory Teachings on Buddhism” at the main temple in Dharamsala from June 7to 9, 2012.  The Foundation welcomes and invites all those interested in these from India. They will receive preferential seating as the teachings have been requested on their behalf. The organisers will of course do their best to accommodate all those who wish to attend regardless.
For more information please send an email to nalandashiksha@gmail.com. You will get an automated reply which provides information about these teachings. If you decide to register then please send us an email at teachings@furhhdl.org with cc to thuptentsewang@gmail.com with the following mandatory details:
Full Name:
Sex:
Date of Birth:

As there are inevitably far more requests from people to attend the Teachings than we are able to accommodate, we are committed to holding a seat for you till May 1st, 2012.  I pray you can join us.

Save Dissent to Save Democracy   THE rising instances of physical violence and threats against political opponents and the inability to accept dissent must raise huge concerns amongst all of us who see democracy as perhaps the really stellar achievement since Independence. AAP’s attack on BJP headquarters and acts of arson committed under the very noses of their elite leadership; the attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in Gujarat in the last two days; the recent manhandling of the caretaker of journalist Siddharth Varadarajan’s house by some garden variety thugs; and the violence and threats meted out regularly to their political opponents by political parties is surely deplorable and condemnable. This is a fatally flawed trend which will destroy the very foundations of our democratic institutions if not pushed back with all the strength and condemnation that the civil society can mobilise. Replaying the past To begin with, it must be clarified that we should ...
