Sinopsis: La conferencia versará sobre la tradición mística española entorno al siglo de oro, y la india de contemplación tal y como aparece en los Yoga Sutras. Se busca comparar especialmente las distintas etapas de la vía contemplativa en ambas tradiciones.

Biografías:

Òscar Pujol estudió sánscrito (B.A., M.A., Ph.D.) en la Banaras Hindu University de Benarés. Se doctoró por la misma Universidad con una tesis sobre un manuscrito gramatical del siglo XII, el Tantrapradipa de Maitreyarakshita. Ha publicado medio centenar de artículos sobre temas relacionados con el sánscrito y la India y ha traducido varios libros del sánscrito al español. Ha publicado también un tratado sobre Patañjali y es el autor del diccionario Sànscrit-Català. Fue director de programas educativos de Casa Asia y en la actualidad reside en Nueva Delhi donde es director del Instituto Cervantes.

Come Carpentier actualmente es el Coordinador de la Junta Editorial de la Revista World Affairs, una publicación trimestral dedicada a temas internacionales, patrocinado por la Fundación Kapur Surya (uno de los patrocinadores del "Foro Público Mundial para el Diálogo de Civilizaciones") de Nueva Delhi, India. Además es Director Adjunto del Instituto EuroAsia, organismo de investigación independiente afiliado a la Universidad de Jamia Millia Islamia de Nueva Delhi, dedicado a la tarea de entender las relaciones actuales entre Asia y la Unión Europea, con un enfoque especial en el de la UE con la India y China.

Synopsis: The conference will focus on the Spanish mystical tradition around the golden age, and the contemplative India as it appears in the Yoga Sutras. It is wanted to compare especially the different stages of the contemplative way in both traditions.

Biographies:

Òscar Pujol studied Sanskrit (BA, MA, Ph.D.) at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi. He received his Ph.D. from the same university with a thesis on a manuscript grammar of the XII century, the Tantrapradipa of Maitreyarakshita. He has published fifty articles on topics related to Sanskrit and India and has translated several Sanskrit books into Spanish. He has also published a treatise on Patanjali and is the author of the Sanskrit-Catalan dictionary. He was director of educational programs of Casa Asia and currently resides in New Delhi where he is director of the Instituto Cervantes.

Come Carpentier, is currently the Convener of the Editorial Board of the WORLD AFFAIRS JOURNAL, a quarterly publication dedicated to international issues, sponsored by the Kapur Surya Foundation (a co-sponsor of the "World Public Forum for Dialogue of Civilisations") New Delhi, India. He is the Deputy-Director of the EuroAsia Institute, an independent research body affiliated to the University of Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi and dedicated to the task of understanding the ongoing relations between Asia and the European Union, with a special focus on the EU's equation with India and China.
