| Arvind Kejriwal resigns as National Convener of AAP amid reports of internal rift |
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today tendered his resignation from the post of AAP Convener, saying he can not do justice by holding both Chief Minister and Convener's posts. Mr Kejriwal had earlier offered to quit from the post on the 26th of last month but it was rejected unanimously by the party. Senior party leader Prashant Bhushan has also offered to resign from AAP Political Affairs Committee. The National Executive Meeting of the party is being held this afternoon in New Delhi to discuss the ongoing crisis following criticism by Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav that the party was becoming one person-centric. Mr Kejriwal's resignation as Convener will also be discussed in the meeting. |
Rouhani wins Iran's Presidential election Moderate cleric Hassan Rouhani won Iran's presidential election on Saturday, the interior ministry said, scoring a surprising landslide victory over conservative hardliners without the need of a second round run-off.Interior minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar announced on state television that Rouhani secured just over 50 percent of the ballot based on a 72 percent turnout of 50 million eligible voters.
