Assembly election in Uttarakhand slated for January 30.


Election Commission ordered videography of entire process of filing of nominations for the Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh.

A total of 384 candidates on Thursday entered the fray on the last day of filing nominations for the assembly election in Uttarakhand slated for January 30.

Altogether 911 candidates have filed their papers for 70 assembly seats in the hill state, the state Election Office said, for 70 Assembly seats  filing of nominations ended on Thursday in the state. Scrutiny will be held today. .

Punjab, 1880 candidates have filed their nominations for 117 seats. Thursday was the last day for filling nominations.

Manipur, nomination papers of 11 independent candidates have been rejected today after scrutiny for the State Assembly elections on the 28th of this month. With this, the nomination papers of 271 candidates have been found in order for the 60-member State Assembly polls.

In view of the militant threats, personal security is being provided from today to all the candidates who have sought security protection. State Inspector General of Police L K Haokip told  that after the last date of withdrawal of candidature on the 14th of this month, security protection will be provided to all serious candidates.
