Wildfire raging in Canadian province of Alberta

May 8,  6:33 PM
A huge wildfire raging in the Canadian province of Alberta is spreading further and could reach major oil sands mine nearby and even neighbouring province of Saskatchewan. Officials said, hot, dry and windy conditions are hampering efforts by hundreds of firefighters to tackle the blaze. The flames have already caused the evacuation of 80,000 people from the oil city of Fort McMurray, and thousands are still stuck to the north.
Fort McMurray is surrounded by wilderness in the heart of Canada’s oil sands, the third largest reserves of oil in the world behind Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

BJP releases copies of PM Modi’s degrees

May 9,  2:3 PM
BJP today released copies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degrees to dispel controversy surrounding his education qualification.
Briefing media in New Delhi, party president Amit Shah accused Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal of spreading misinformation against the Prime Minister.
He demanded a public apology from the Delhi Chief Minister and also asked him to clarify on what grounds he leveled allegations.
He said he will also write to Mr Kejriwal to further assure him. Mr Shah also hit out at Congress and JDU for joining the misinformation campaign.
Mr Arun Jaitley, who was also with Mr Shah, criticised AAP for stooping to a new low and defaming the nation across the world.
He said Mr Kejriwal, who claims to be a champion of the common man, should have appreciated Mr Modi for pursuing education even after being in public life.
He said Mr Kejriwal should instead focus on his own MLAs who have been prosecuted for fake degrees.
Mr Jaitley alleged that the politics of adventurism is being treated as a substitute of governance in Delhi.

ABOUT THE EVENT
Over the last two years, the global energy scenario has been experiencing some dramatic changes — technological, economic, and geopolitical – that have significantly transformed the energy landscape and posed new challenges for India’s energy security interests. The commercial development of shale oil has made the US nearly self-sufficient, so that the global market is today awash with substantial surpluses. This has led to a sharp fall in oil prices, from $ 115/barrel in mid-June 2014 to $ 27 in January 2016, causing extraordinary disruptions in the economics and politics of producer countries.
There are other important forces at play as well: Asian countries have replaced western countries as the principal consumers and importers of energy, with projections that by 2035, about 90% of West Asian oil will be imported by other Asian countries. Coupled with this are the burgeoning global sensitivity to climate change issues and the attendant need to move from fossil fuels to renewables and nuclear energy, though this shift also throws up serious challenges relating to energy economics and safety.
By 2035, India is expected to become the third largest energy consuming country in the world, after China and the US, with the Indian share in global energy demand going from 4% in 2010 to 8.6% in 2035. Its long-term energy demand will rise by 3.8% annually, with fossil fuels accounting for 90% of the incremental growth. Its oil demand will go from 2.5 million barrels per day [mbd] in 2010 to 6.9 mbd in 2035, with an import dependence of nearly 90%.
In order to maintain its high growth trajectory, India will have to successfully cope with major challenges so that it can diversify its energy basket, strengthen the domestic supply base and deliver energy for lifeline needs and national development, meet its commitments relating to climate change, and robustly engage with foreign partners on bilateral and multilateral basis to promote its interests.
This conference will analyze the global energy scenario, highlight the challenges for India and suggest ways in which these could be met effectively.

FC Pune City sign Zodingliana Ralte and Vishal Kaith

FC Pune City sign Zodingliana Ralte and Vishal Kaith

Pune, 09h May 2016: – The Rajesh Wadhawan Group and Hrithik Roshan co-owned Indian Super League club FC Pune City strengthened their home-bred options by signing winger Zodingliana Ralte and goalkeeper Vishal Kaith for the 2016 edition of the league.

FC Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel said, “Both Ralte and Kaith were one of the most sought after youth talent in the country. Zodingliana is a versatile player and can play in a variety of positions, be it left back or even in the middle of the park. Kaith on the other hand is one of the best young goalkeepers in the country. We were closely following their performances and are thankful to Shillong Lajong for allowing them to continue their development with our club.

Ralte better known as ‘Adinga’ by many played for NorthEast United in 2014 season and Delhi Dynamos in 2015. The 21-year old winger started his career with Shillong Lajong after the North Eastern club selected him from an U-14 football festival held in Goa.

To bolster their goalkeeping options Vishal Kaith will join the ranks alongside Arindham Bhattacharya. Having played the nationals for Himachal Pradesh, Kaith was picked by the AIFF to play for the U-16 and U-19 national sides. He then joined the AIFF Elite Academy in 2013, where for a year he honed his skills and was eventually picked up by Shillong Lajong FC.

Head Coach, Antonio Habas said, “Having had the chance to assess the various players we already have on board, we were able to identify the characteristics and positions needed to strengthen the squad. In both Ralte and Kaith we are filling up the jigsaw puzzle with the right pieces. I can’t wait until all of them start training with us.”

Shillong Lajong general secretary Larsing Sawyan was delighted to see two of his I-League team players representing FC Pune City for the 2016 edition of Indian Super League. “Both Ralte & Kaith are amongst the elite talents to have represented our club. Their commitment to FC Pune City will be nothing less than 100% and we wish them the best for the coming edition of ISL.”
