Power Minister Piyush Goyal launched Tarang mobile app and e-bidding web portals e-Trans and DEEP when he introduced reverse auction in transmission sector. Goyal said that this would facilitate better price discovery in such projects.
Power Minister Piyush Goyal launched the process of tariff-based reverse auction in the transmission sector, simultaneously inaugurating a portal for electronic bidding for transmission projects. He also launched the “Tarang” mobile App, “e-Trans” and “DEEP” (Discovery of Efficient Electricity Price) e-bidding web portals developed by Rural Electrification Corp, saying that reverse auction is being introduced in transmission sector on the lines of coal sector in order to facilitate better price discovery in such projects. The web portal marks a shift from the current manual auction process to the electronic mode for determining the lowest bidder for the projects.

Guwahati, Aug 19: Badminton sensation PV Sindhu was the top searched athlete on Google India, followed by bronze medal winning wrestler Sakshi Malik, as the country is gripped by Rio Olympics fever. (Meet the man behind Sindhu’s success)
‘Following her sensational move against world number 6 Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals of the women’s badminton singles, PV Sindhu was the top searched Indian athlete, followed by debut medallist Sakshi Malik,’ Google said. (Sindhu’s final start time, TV info)
Other top Searched Indian athletes in the last three days were Srikanth Kidambi (badminton), Dipa Karmakar (gymnastics) who secured fourth position, Sania Mirza (tennis), Saina Nehwal (badminton), Vinesh Phogat (wrestling), Lalita Babar (long distance running), Vikas Krishan Yadav (boxing) and Narsingh Pancham Yadav (wrestling).
While overall badminton and wrestling remained the top searched sports by Indians, interest in athletics and gymnastics was boosted by some thrilling performances by the players in the Olympics.
‘India is currently ranked 11th in the global trends in terms of searches for the ‘Olympics’ over the last seven days,’ the statement said.
Indians also showed a great deal of excitement for Jamaican Sprinter and World’s fastest man Usain Bolt, who remained the most searched foreign athlete on Google India.
Apart from Bolt, other top searched foreign players being searched by Indians in the last three days include Chinese badminton player Lin Dan who defeated Srikanth Kidambi, Nozomi Okuhara of Japan who lost to PV Sindhu, swimming great from the US Michael Phelps and Chinese badminton player Wang Yihan.
Meanwhile, people of the North Eastern states appear to be more interested in the Rio Olympics compared to other states of the country, according to an analysis by Google.
Six North Eastern states – Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, Sikkim and Nagaland – have emerged as the top six Indian states from where netizens have extensively searched Google for information on Rio Games, the Google statement said.
The remaining four positions in the Top 10 list have been occupied by Goa, Puducherry, Haryana and Uttarakhand, it said.
Modi lays foundation stone of new BJP office
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with party president Amit Shah, on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office here, saying the “sacrifice of generation of party workers inspires us to work”.
“Sacrifice of generations of karyakartas (workers) inspire us to work,” Modi said after laying the foundation stone of the new party office.
The new proposed party office building will have 70-rooms on the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, which is just 5 km from the current office on Ashoka Road.
“The new office is not just a building or a structure but a symbol of the sacrifices of the party leaders,” Modi said.
“Our determination is to take everyone together, work for everyone. Nation building is our main priority,” the Prime Minister noted.
“I think few party candidates lost so many deposits as we did but still that did not affect the determination of our party workers,” he added.
He further said that the leadership of the BJP was such that their “thought was clear – we will be in the opposition but we won’t compromise on our ideals”.
The building will be spread across two acres with 70 per cent of lush greenery.
During the ‘bhoomi pujan’ of the new poffice, veteran BJP leaders L.K Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Harshvardhan were also present on the ocassion.
It will take about two years to complete the new office buidling which will be equipped with modern technological facilities to link the party headquarters with the party units in states and districts.

Nitin Gadkari: 800 accident zones identified on national highways
Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari has said, nearly 800 accident zones identified on national highways across the country, will be soon fixed to bring down road mishaps.
Inaugurating a two-day national workshop on Road Safety in Vishakapatnam, the minister said the black spots will be set right at a cost of Rs 11,000 crores. Mr.Gadkari said at least 1.5 lakh deaths occur per year due to road accidents in the country and this can be reduced by 50 per cent in near future in co-operation with all state transport ministers.
