All five soldiers trapped under snow in Jammu and Kashmir’s Macchil sector rescued.
Five army personnel have been hit by an avalanche that struck an army post in Jammu-Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Rescue operations by the army are underway.

INDIAN COAST GUARD SUCCESSFULLY UNDERTOOK MEDICAL
EVACUATION OF SICK INDIAN CREW FROM MERCHANT SHIP PANAMAX-4
FROM APPROX 50 KMS INTO BAY OF BENGAL, WHILE THE SHIP WAS
ENROUTE TO PARADIP.
THE MARITIME RESCUE SUB CENTRE OF INDIAN COAST GUARD,
VIZAG RECEIVED THE REQUEST TO EVACUATE 26 YEARS OLD AILING
CREW MR ISHITIYAK AHMED, WHO REQUIRED URGENT MEDICAL HELP
AS HIS CONDITION WAS DETERIORATING FAST. ICG SHIP ARNVESH ON
ROUTINE MISSION WAS DIVERTED TO R/V THE VESSEL.
SIMULTANEOUSLY COAST GUARD CHETAK HELICOPTER WAS LAUNCHED
FROM VIZAG. DESPITE THE PREVAILING VISIBILITY BEING VERY LOW,
CG HELICOPTER PILOTED BY COMMANDANT R RAMESH TOOK
CALCULATED RISK AND SKILLFULLY LANDED THE CHETAK ONBOARD
THE MERCHANT VESSEL.
THE PATIENT WAS SAFELY EVACUATED TO VIZAG AND ADMITTED
IN SEVEN HILLS HOSPITAL BY THE LOCAL AGENT. HIS CONDITION IS
REPORTED TO BE STABLE.
IT MAY BE NOTED THAT THE INDIAN COAST GUARD IS THE NODAL
AGENCY FOR UNDERTAKING MARITIME SEARCH AND RESCUE
OPERATIONS IN INDIAN EEZ. THE SERVICE WHICH WILL BE
COMPLETING 40 YEARS ON 01 FEB 2017 HAS BEEN HIGHLY
INSTRUMENTAL IN EXECUTING ITS MANDATED CHARTER. THE INDIAN
COAST GUARD SINCE INCEPTION TO ITS CREDIT HAS SAVED MORE
THAN 4696 LIVES & 238 MEDICAL EVACUATIONS.
