Development of Airport Infrastructure

Development of Airport Infrastructure Government is encouraging development of airport infrastructure by way of expansion/upgradation of existing airports including small and medium airports to attract foreign tourists and through establishment of new airports (including Greenfield airports) with a view to ensure;-

(i) Infrastructure to be in place ahead of demand.

(ii) Support for airport infrastructure development initiatives to facilitate/encourage air connectivity to remote and inaccessible areas of tourist importance.

(iii) Government has also declared 17 airports as international airports and 09 airports as custom airports to facilitate foreign tourist across the country.

In addition, Airports Operators are providing world class infrastructure like terminal building, immigration facility, city side development around airport. Also many airports at places of tourist importance have been developed.

This information was given by the Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Vayalar Ravi in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.

China communist party congress to open Nov.8

China's Communist Party to convene its National Congress on November 8th. Vice President Xi Jinping is expected to assume the top leadership.On Friday the party's Political Bureau decided the date of the meeting, held once every 5 years. During the meeting, Vice President Xi Jinping will likely replace President Hu Jintao. Many other top leaders are also expected to be replaced.Experts are interested in what policies the new leadership will lay out for the 5 years until the next national congress. Economic policy is a source of interest as China needs to ensure social stability amid a slowing economy. This year the announcement of the schedule was delayed for about a month.
