June core infra grows at 3%


The core infrastructure grows to 3% (Y-O-Y) in June 2015 as compared to 4.4% (Y-O-Y) in May 2015. The combined index of Eight Core Industries stands at 171.2 in June 2015 with a growth rate of 3.0% in June 2015 as compared to 4.4% in May 2014. Crude oil and Natural gas registered a growth rate of (-)0.7% and (-)5.9% respectively in the month of June 2015.

In cumulative terms, core infrastructure industries registered a growth of 2.4% during April- June 2015-16 as against 6.0% during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Electricity generation grew by 1.5% during Apr–June2015-16 as against 11.3% growth during Apr– June 2014-15, while steel production grew by 2.8% during Apr– June 2015-16 as against 7.2% during Apr- June 2014-15. The production in crude oil grew by (-)0.9% during Apr– June2015-16 as compared to its growth at (-)0.1% during Apr–June 2014-15, whereas petroleum refinery production registered a growth of 4.2% during Apr–June 2015-16 as compared to (-)1.3% during Apr– June 2014-15. Fertilizer production grew by 2.4% during Apr– June 2015-16 compared to its growth at 8.6% during Apr–June 2014-15 and cement production grew by 0.9% during Apr– June 2015-16 compared to its growth at 9.6% during Apr– June 2014-15.
