Saudi Arabia troops attacked by armed group

Saudi Arabia's state-run news agency says an armed group has killed a soldier in the eastern city of Qatif. It says gunmen on motorbikes attacked troops at a street intersection late Friday.

A shootout reportedly left a soldier and one of the attackers dead, and one soldier wounded.The troops detained 4 of the gunmen.Saudi Arabia is ruled by a Sunni monarchy, but the country's east is predominantly populated by minority Shia Muslims.

The Shia have been protesting what they say is an entrenched discrimination that denies them freedom of religion and profession.Demonstrations and attacks on security troops escalated after an Islamic cleric revered by locals was detained in July.

Duterte proposes another UN August 21, 2016 Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte railed against the United Nations today after it called for an end to the wave of killings unleashed by his war on drugs, saying he might leave the organisation. Duterte also said the Philippines will invite China and African nations to form another global organisation in place of United Nations, as world body is not doing enough to address hunger and terrorism.
