Dear Naresh,
At Human Rights First, we aim to bring about concrete, real world change that makes human rights a reality in people’s lives. Every year, we evaluate our efforts and take stock of our accomplishments.
I’m pleased to share with you our new Annual Report, which highlights some of our successes in 2012, including:
  • Brokering a bipartisan coalition in the Congress to pass legislation that cuts U.S. ties to Rosoboronexport, the Russian state arms dealer and a major supplier of arms to the Assad regime in Syria
  • Launching a major Human Rights Summit that brought together unlikely partners to develop practical solutions to human rights challenges
  • Advocating successfully for the Senate Select Intelligence Committee to adopt in a bipartisan vote the findings of its three-year investigation of the CIA torture program
  • Bringing the voices of embattled Bahraini activists into the halls of power in Washington to press the U.S. to stand up to its ally and with those working for democracy
  • Winning asylum for 80 refugees, enabling them to restart their lives in safety and freedom.
To learn more, please take a few moments to browse the report online.
Thank you for all you do to support this vital work.
Warm regards,
Elisa Massimino
P.S. We’ve also been awarded Charity Navigator’s prestigious four star rating. To learn more, please visit their report here.
Human Rights First is an independent advocacy and action organization that challenges America to live up to its ideals. We believe American leadership is essential in the struggle for human rights so we press the U.S. government and private companies to respect human rights and the rule of law. When they don't, we step in to demand reform, accountability and justice. Around the world, we work where we can best harness American influence to secure core freedoms.

Duterte proposes another UN August 21, 2016 Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte railed against the United Nations today after it called for an end to the wave of killings unleashed by his war on drugs, saying he might leave the organisation. Duterte also said the Philippines will invite China and African nations to form another global organisation in place of United Nations, as world body is not doing enough to address hunger and terrorism. There appears to be human rights working for terrorist and mafia in third world to keep their states in dire state. Two UN human rights experts last week urged Manila to stop the extra-judicial executions and killings that have escalated since Duterte won the Presidency. About 900 suspected drug traffickers have been killed since he came to power after winning the election on May 9.
