Turkey opposition party appeals to top court, demands re-run of Ankara vote
The candidate for Turkey's main opposition party has asked the Constitutional Court to order a re-run of the mayoral race in Ankara, Reuters reported. The secularist Republican People's Party (CHP) says last month's close election in the capital city was marred by fraud. Turkey's High Election Board has already rejected the charges. CHP lost the election to Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's AK Party. The AKP swept to victory despite anti-government protests last summer and a corruption scandal that has dogged Erdogan and his inner circle since late last year.
