Referendum on statehood for Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party is firm on its stand to gain full statehood for Delhi and it will not shy away from seeking the opinion of the people by way of referendum. The party is also not surprised by the fact that both Congress and BJP have decided to stray away from its traditional demand for Delhi statehood in line with its true nature of not being honest with the people of the state.
“Referendum on statehood for Delhi would be a reaffirmation of the demand of the people to seek their demand which has been long pending. Congress and BJP have joined hands to term it as unconstitutional whereas they have been in the forefront on this demand and now they have decided to betray the people of Delhi,” party state convener Dilip Pandey said in a press conference today.
We hope that the demand for statehood to Delhi was a pro-people issue for consideration of the central government and we hope that the prime minister will accept it, he added.
“The present discussion on full statehood for the national capital was not just an AAP initiative but has been raised by the BJP and Congress since 1993, but since people rejected them outrightly, these parties have decided to be against the will of the people,” MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj said who is also the state incharge.
The Aam Aadmi is resolved to provide full statehood to the people of Delhi and it will leave no stone unturned to make it a reality.
