ULFA planned to attack Rajnath Singh
ULFA(I) had planned to attack leaders of the BJP during the latter’s recent visit to the State, but later decided to target Hindi-speaking people instead.
Highly placed police sources told The Assam Tribune that one group of ULFA(I) cadres managed to sneak into Sivasagar and Tinsukia districts via Arunachal Pradesh from their camps in Myanmar. The first task given to this group was to attack leaders of the BJP during the recent visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to the State.
Fortunately, timely receipt of the inputs proved to be handy, as the police and security forces managed to foil this attempt of the ultras. Extra security cover was also provided to the BJP leaders, as they were considered vulnerable. After the attempt had been foiled by the security forces, the group of ultras targeted Hindi-speaking people living in the State, sources added.
Meanwhile, the threat to the Guwahati city in the run-up to the Independence Day celebrations cannot be overlooked. According to information received by police and security forces, a group of 13 ULFA(I) members have teamed up with a few militants belonging to the GNLA and are reportedly taking shelter in the North Garo Hills. Security forces have been kept on high alert to thwart any possible attempt by the ultras at unleashing terror, and a close watch is being maintained on the possible entry routes to the city from Meghalaya.

Duterte proposes another UN August 21, 2016 Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte railed against the United Nations today after it called for an end to the wave of killings unleashed by his war on drugs, saying he might leave the organisation. Duterte also said the Philippines will invite China and African nations to form another global organisation in place of United Nations, as world body is not doing enough to address hunger and terrorism. There appears to be human rights working for terrorist and mafia in third world to keep their states in dire state. Two UN human rights experts last week urged Manila to stop the extra-judicial executions and killings that have escalated since Duterte won the Presidency. About 900 suspected drug traffickers have been killed since he came to power after winning the election on May 9.
