IOC suspends Indian Olympic Association
NEW DELHI: International Olympic Committee Tuesday suspended the Indian Olympic Association.
The stated reason for the IOC's strictures against India's highest sports body are twofold - firstly for holding elections under court directives that adhere to the government's Sports Code and second for not abiding by the Olympic Charter.
The IOC move is expected to galvanise the satraps running the IOA into action as this development will not only mean that the IOA is denied access to funds from the world body but also that its officials cannot henceforth attend IOC administered meetings and events.
