Pak CJ Skips Delhi Meet of
International Jurists:.Decision seen as fallout of Kasab
Execution
New Delhi, Dec 02:
Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohd Chaudhury skipped the ongoing
International Conference of Jurists on terrorism here apparently as a fallout
of the recent execution of the Ajmal Kasab, the terrorist involved in the 2008
26/11 Mumbai attacks.
According to Dr Adish C Aggarwala, President of the
International Council of Jurists, the organizers of the event, Choudhury had
confirmed his participation in the two day conference prior to Kasab’s
execution.
“Following Kasab’s execution, Mr Choudhury informed
us that due to unavoidable circumstances, he canot attend the conference.
Apparently, the Government of Pakistan had asked him not to attend this
important meet, where jurists from all over the world have gathered to discuss
the threat posed by terrorism and the response to it among other issues”, he
said.
At the inaugural ceremony of the conference here
yesterday, Bangladesh Supreme Court Judge Saifuddin Choudhury had praised India
for the execution of Kasab and said it would send a strong message to the
world.
