Upper House on Monday witnessed repeated disruptions on the Lobbying by Walmart issue. Quoting a Newspaper report Opposition members sought an immediate discussion. The presiding officer quoted rules. Amid the din, the house had to be adjourned till 12:30 pm and then till 2 pm. The media report had claimed that Walmart had lobbied with US lawmakers for the last four years to facilitate their entry into the Indian retail market. It claimed that the company had spent 25 million dollars as per a report submitted in US senate. The amount is equivalent to 125 crore Rupees. BJP and SP demanded probe on the Walmart lobbying report while Congress claimed that It has nothing to do with India.
