Campbell leads Pro-Am team to win Pearls Pro-Am on eve Pearls Golf Premier League

Aamby Valley, February 8: Michael Campbell, the 2005 US Open champion, showed that he means business as he led his four-ball to a fine win in the Pearls Pro-Am, which preceded the inaugural Pearls Golf Premier League in association with Aamby Valley City. Campbell, the 2005 US Open champion, had as his teammates Piyush Tiwari, Piyush Pushpak and S Anand. They returned a score of minus 14.
Campbell, a member of the Shubhkamna UP Eagles, who was in excellent form, added, “It is nice to start the week with a win and a prize. I am looking forward to the main event now.”
Their bunch of prizes included home a return air ticket to Bangkok courtesy of One World Travel Solution, INR 10,000 vouchers from Planet Sports and Callaway and a voucher for a pair of Oakley sunglasses. Pro Campbell also won a 2 night, 3 day stay for 2 at the Mara River Camp in Kenya. The prizes were presented by Mr. R S Katra, member of Executive Committee of the Pearls GPL.
The winners also received a Kenwood Car Stereo Music System from Nippon Kenwood, presented by Mr. Baluja.
Professional Daniel Chopra’s team comprising Dipak Gupta, Hari Om and Shruti Khanna grabbed the second place on a countback as three teams tied for second place at minus 13 points. The prizes included a return air ticket to Goa courtesy of One World Travel Solution, INR 5,000 vouchers from Planet Sports and Callaway and a voucher for a pair of Oakley sunglasses. Daniel Chopra also got a Da Milano bag. The prizes were presented by Col S K Sinha, General Manager, Aamby Valley.
There were two skills prizes with Munish Patell winning the closest to the Pin on Hole 14 (Hole no 10 on the Course). His tee shot came to rest 10 feet 3 inches from the pin and he was presented his prize by Mr Rajan Sehgal of IGTA. Patell received a 3 night / 4 day trip for two to Kashmir, presented by Incredible India and a voucher for a pair of Oakley sunglasses, presented by Oakleys.
In the Longest Drive on Hole 13 (Hole No 18 on the Course) the top performer was Madhav Dhar, also owner of the Kenwood Nippon Delhi Darts, who powered his drive to a distance of 314 yards. He was presented his prize by Maj YP Maini of One World Travel Solution.
A total of 19 professional competed alongside corporates, amateurs and many of the team owners participated in this new innovative event and the amateur players who have hopefully had a great day playing with the pro stars.
Earlier in the afternoon a sky diving exhibition was the highlight of the Opening Ceremony in which all eight teams and their owners turned out in their team colours.
The Pearls Pro-AM and the main event is being sponsored by Pearls Group as title sponsor, Aamby Valley City as Associate Sponsor and Host venue, Incredible India as co-sponsor, Ballantines, mytravelvalue.com, Blackberry, Swarovski, Bentbrass, Da Milano and AMR. The event is being telecast live on Sony Six and other partners include Ignite, 4Moles, Planet Sports, Sportsworkz and Sports Mantra, who produced the event.
