DLF Gurgaon enjoys slight advantage over Silverglades Delhi as untimely rain takes the tournament into an extra day

Final to be completed on Sunday after play called-off

Jaypee Greens Golf Resort, Greater Noida: The DLF Gurgaon team enjoyed a slight advantage over Silverglades Delhi in the final of the Louis Philippe Cup 2013 when play was suspended at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort on Saturday due to heavy rain that led to unplayable course conditions.

Play was suspended at 12:40 pm on Saturday. The matches will resume at 7:15 am on Sunday.

When play was called-off, DLF Gurgaon and Silverglades Delhi were engaged in a keen tussle. Gurgaon’s Jyoti Randhawa and Delhi’s Rashid Khan were at level terms with scores of even-par after nine holes. Digvijay Singh of Gurgaon was also all square with his Delhi opponent Himmat Singh Rai at three-over-par after 10 holes.

However, in the third match of the encounter, Abhinav Lohan gave the Gurgaon team an edge as he was two strokes ahead of his Delhi counterpart Shamim Khan after the completion of 10 holes. Abhinav was two-over against Shamim’s four-over when play was halted.

In the third place play-off, Jaypee Greens Greater Noida was ahead in two matches while Navratna Ahmedabad was leading in one. For hosts Greater Noida, Gaganjeet Bhullar lead Vikrant Chopra by one stroke after 14 holes and R Murthy lead Vinod Kumar by three shots after 11 holes. Ahmedabad’s Mithun Perera, on the other hand, was four shots ahead of Sanjay Kumar after 14 holes.

In the play-off for the fifth place, Puravankara Bangalore won the first match while Shubhkamna Noida was leading in the other two matches yet to be completed. Bangalore’s Anirban Lahiri posted a win against Ashok Kumar of Noida by three strokes while Noida’s Jeev Milkha Singh was five shots ahead of Bangalore player Manav Jaini with one hole to play.
  
In the encounter for seventh place, TAKE Chennai and AVT Kolkata have won a match each, while the third match between Kolkata’s Chiragh Kumar and Chennai’s Khalin Joshi is all square with one hole to go. In the first two matches, Chennai’s Anura Rohana defeated Kolkata’s Rahil Gangjee by six strokes while Kolkata’s Shankar Das overcame Chennai’s Mukesh Kumar by five strokes.
