BANGKOK, Aug 19 - Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) will vote for the country's interim prime minister

Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) will vote for the country's interim prime minister this Thursday, according to NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholachai.

Mr Pornpetch told reporters that he issued an order today to include the selection of new prime minister as an agenda for the NLA meeting this Thursday. The process to select the new prime minister will be based on the Provisional Constitution and past practices, he said. NLA members are likely to vote in an opened-door session, he said, and the prime minister will be selected by a simple majority vote. Asked whether it is possible for a member of the National Council for Peace and Order to become prime minister, Mr Pornpetch said the Provisional Constitution does not prohibit a public servant from holding a political position. He noted that a commander-in-chief post is also regarded as a public service position.  The NLA president declined to comment on the possibility that Thai Army Chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha might hold two important public positions--one as head of the National Council for Peace and Order and the other as interim prime minister, which is seen by many parties as inappropriate.

Army Chief Prayuth Chan-ocha is likely to be the sole candidate for the premiership when the 197-strong appointed assembly convenes on Thursday to select a new leader for the Southeast Asian country, the sources told media . "It was difficult to find people to become prime minister other than General Prayuth. If it's not him, who else should it be?" one junta official said on condition of anonymity. "He staged a coup. He has to be responsible for solving all the problems by himself. By becoming prime minister, he will have full power," the person added.

Duterte proposes another UN August 21, 2016 Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte railed against the United Nations today after it called for an end to the wave of killings unleashed by his war on drugs, saying he might leave the organisation. Duterte also said the Philippines will invite China and African nations to form another global organisation in place of United Nations, as world body is not doing enough to address hunger and terrorism. There appears to be human rights working for terrorist and mafia in third world to keep their states in dire state. Two UN human rights experts last week urged Manila to stop the extra-judicial executions and killings that have escalated since Duterte won the Presidency. About 900 suspected drug traffickers have been killed since he came to power after winning the election on May 9.
