A security court in Jordan has jailed a senior leader of the Muslim Brotherhood for a year and a half Sunday for criticizing the United Arab Emirates on social media. Zaki Bani Rushaid, the deputy head of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, was found guilty of spoiling relations with a foreign country after he had criticized the UAE for calling the Brotherhood a terrorist group. He was arrested in November after saying that the UAE’s rulers did not have any popular political legitimacy and instead were serving Israeli interests by cracking down on political Islam.
