Seine River reaches highest levels since 1982

France floods: Seine river hits critical 6-metre mark in Paris and could rise to 6.5 m
Rains across France on Friday lifted the Seine River to its highest levels since 1982, as the Louvre Museum and the Musée d’Orsay removed masterpieces from galleries vulnerable to flooding, the New York Times reports. The river has already hit the critical 6-meter mark, France 24 said. French environment officials expect the Seine to reach its maximum level late Friday as rainfall across the country begins to taper off. Officials also downgraded the “red alert” issued for a tributary of the Seine, the Loing, and the Indre River, in central France.
