Action Films Launched ahead of Gala Festival Night
“Cold War II” will start national release on July 8.
New film projects were released yesterday at the ongoing 2016 Shanghai International Film and TV Festival.
Popular writer-turned-director Guo Jingming, known for his high-grossing romance film franchise “Tiny Times,” released a 3D trailer of his new fantasy film “Legend of Ravaging Dynasties.”
The film features lavish scenes and stunning visuals and, based on Guo’s 2010 novel, is the first CG live-action blockbuster in China. It will be released on September 30.
“Kung Fu Yoga,” an action-packed co-production between China and India also caught media attention yesterday at the festival.
The adventure film features action star Jackie Chan and incorporates ancient legends of China and India into the story line.
A press conference also was held for the sequel Hong Kong cop drama “Cold War II.”
Starring Chow Yun-fat, Aaron Kwok and Eddie Peng, it was the opening feature last night for the film gala of the 2016 Shanghai International Film and TV Festival. It will start national release on July 8.
In the film, Hong Kong police continue to face unexpected intelligence challenges. The original film was a big winner at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards, winning nine awards, including for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.
