Kerry to visit Brussels & London to discuss Brexit vote
US Secretary of State John Kerry is due to meet European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in Brussels and British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond in London on Monday, a senior State Department official told Reuters. He said Kerry would highlight the importance of other members not following in Britain’s footsteps. US President Barack Obama urged Britain to remain in the EU when he visited London in April, warning that a trade agreement between Washington and London would not take place in the near future if Britain left the bloc, the Telegraph reported. EU and UK officials are currently trying to assess the political and economic consequences of Thursday’s British referendum vote in favor of exiting the 28-nation bloc.

China stops communications with Taiwan
Chinese government has suspended “the cross Taiwan Strait contact and communication mechanism” with the breakaway island, explaining it by the failure of Taiwan’s new leadership to recognize the so-called “1992 consensus” once reached between Beijing and Taipei, both agreeing there is only one China, whatever it means for each side, Reuters reports. Taiwan’s new President Tsai Ing-wen, who took office last month, is on her first official visit abroad to Latin America, with two stops planned in the US on the way to and from the final destination. The situation is aggravated by a number of cases of deportation of fraud-suspects with Taiwan passports to China from countries such as Cambodia, Kenya and Malaysia, which Taipei has called “kidnapping” of its citizens.
German parliament backs plans for closer intel ties
The German parliament on Friday approved plans to seek closer secret service cooperation with other countries and impose stricter rules on pre-paid mobile phone use, as part of a package of anti-terrorism reforms. The new law would allow Germany’s security services to share databases with foreign partners. It would also require individuals seeking to buy a pre-paid mobile phone SIM to provide photo identification cards as well as register the purchase under their names. The measure is aimed at ending anonymous usage of pre-paid phones, which are favored by criminals and extremists seeking to evade police surveillance.

AirAsia’s #GREEN24 Climate Change movement wins recognition at prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards
SINGAPORE, 25 June 2016 – AirAsia’s #GREEN24 movement which aims to create climate change awareness in the region has won the Green Leadership award at the prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) held in Singapore yesterday.
The #GREEN24 movement is part of the airline group’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, and was launched last November as a regional effort to raise the profile of climate change effects.
Among some of the significant efforts which the airline group has successfully carried out include the implementation of precision navigation services, flight data analytics, and fuel management services which was first initiated back in 2012. In 2015 alone, the airline has reduced 22,602 tons of CO2 emission as result of the carefully engineered initiatives.
Apart from that, AirAsia has conducted at least 40 #GREEN24 activities throughout the region to conserve energy, further raise awareness on climate change effects and educating the public on environment sustainability since the inception of the #GREEN24 movement in November 2015.
Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad said,”We started the #GREEN24 movement with the intention to bring more people to understand the reality of climate change. We are grateful to receive such a notable industry award for the project. It’s encouraging to see our project being recognized as we continue to work hard and take proactive steps to ensure that our operations as well as our internal practices are moving towards the direction of environmental sustainability; apart from creating external programs that will reach out to the communities that we serve.”
The prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) recognises and honours Asian businesses for championing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship in six categories, which are Green Leadership, Investment in People, Health Promotion, Social Empowerment, SME CSR, and Responsible Business Leadership. The awardees were thoroughly evaluated from over 300 CSR projects from 15 Asian countries.
As Asia’s leading award for responsible entrepreneurship, AREA aims to inculcate a culture of ethics and universal justice in the running of businesses as part of a sustainable entrepreneurial framework.

We all woke up to the news that the United Kingdom is leaving the European Union.
Now, David Cameron is resigning as the UK’s prime minister, the pound is plummeting, and stock markets the world over are dealing with massive levels of uncertainty.
