Syria: 35 civillians killed in US-led airstrikes

Syria, at least 35 civilians were killed by fresh US-led airstrikes
near Ghandur town close to Manbej, controlled by the Islamic State
terror group.
The strikes come in the context of the US support to the Kurdish-led
Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, which has besieged Manbej in a bid
to flush out IS militants.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported the strike.
Manbej has a strategic importance to the US-backed rebels due to its
location near to the Turkish border.

Militants killed in Afghanistan

Afghanistan, 57 militants have been killed and several others wounded in offensives by government forces.
Defence Ministry said, the fresh offensives have been launched in 13 provinces of the country. Two government soldiers were also killed in the operation.

Data from Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign hacked

United States, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has been hacked as part of a larger cyber intrusion against Democratic Party institutions.
US media reports that the latest hack follows two data breaches involving the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Mrs Clinton’s campaign said in a statement that intruders had gained
access to an analytics program used by the campaign and maintained by the national committee, but it said that it did not believe that the campaign’s own internal computer systems had been compromised.
Amidst reports of Russian involvement in trying to influence the Presidential campaign, Moscow has denied any involvement in the cyber intrusion.
FBI said, it was examining reports of cyber-intrusions involving multiple political entities but did not identify the targets of the intrusion.

Army guns down two militants in Kashmir.SC ask centre Report J&K

Army today foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Naugam sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Two militants were killed while two soldiers also martyred in the operation.
An army official said, troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC in Naugam sector during the intervening night and challenged the intruders, who opened fire. The soldiers returned fire leading to the gunbattle, in which two militants were killed.
He said, a soldier was also injured in the operation which was going on till last reports came in. The official said, two AK rifles, one grenade launcher and other war-like stores were recovered from the
scene of the gunbattle.
This is second major infiltration bid foiled by the army in Naugam sector this week. Four militants were killed and one was apprehended alive in a failed infiltration bid on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, barring parts of Srinagar city, Anantnag and Pampore towns, curfew was today lifted from Kashmir even as normal life remained disrupted due to the strike called by separatists.
A police official said, curfew was lifted from most parts of the Valley but restrictions on assembly of four or more people continued in entire Kashmir.Supreme Court has asked the Centre to file a status report
detailing, what it termed, the ground realities prevailing in Jammu
and Kashmir.
A bench, headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur, however, did not issue
notice on the PIL, filed by senior advocate and Jammu and Kashmir
National Panthers Party leader Bhim Singh, seeking imposition of
Governor’s rule in the state.
Singh told the apex court that due to the use of pellet guns, persons
are becoming blind and there are no medical facilities available to
the citizens.
The court asked Singh about his visits to the Valley and to bring
before it one person who is unable to go to the hospital due to the
prevailing condition.
The court also cautioned Singh not to take political mileage of the proceedings.

Rajnath Singh in Assam to take stock of flood situation

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has reached Guwahati to take stock of the situation as 19 lakh people are reeling under flood in 22 districts of Assam.
Official sources said that the Minister will conduct an aerial survey of Nagaon, Morigaon and Kaziranga. He will also be visiting Bhagatgaon camp in Morigaon district.
Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal and Chief Secretary will also accompany him.
The Home Minister will also hold a meeting with Chief Minister and state government officials in Guwahati.
AIR Correspondent reports that nearly five lakh displaced people have taken shelter at relief camps.
Meanwhile, overall flood situation slightly improved today except Dhubri and South Salmara.
CEO of state disaster management authority Dipak Sarma said that most of the rivers are showing a receding trend.
Mr. Sarma however said that the Brahmaputra is flowing above normal in Guwahati.
