The strikes come in the context of the US support to the Kurdish-led
Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, which has besieged Manbej in a bid
to flush out IS militants.

Militants killed in Afghanistan
Afghanistan, 57 militants have been killed and several others wounded in offensives by government forces.
Defence Ministry said, the fresh offensives have been launched in 13 provinces of the country. Two government soldiers were also killed in the operation.

Army today foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Naugam sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Two militants were killed while two soldiers also martyred in the operation.
An army official said, troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC in Naugam sector during the intervening night and challenged the intruders, who opened fire. The soldiers returned fire leading to the gunbattle, in which two militants were killed.

This is second major infiltration bid foiled by the army in Naugam sector this week. Four militants were killed and one was apprehended alive in a failed infiltration bid on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, barring parts of Srinagar city, Anantnag and Pampore towns, curfew was today lifted from Kashmir even as normal life remained disrupted due to the strike called by separatists.

Rajnath Singh in Assam to take stock of flood situation
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has reached Guwahati to take stock of the situation as 19 lakh people are reeling under flood in 22 districts of Assam.
Official sources said that the Minister will conduct an aerial survey of Nagaon, Morigaon and Kaziranga. He will also be visiting Bhagatgaon camp in Morigaon district.
Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal and Chief Secretary will also accompany him.
The Home Minister will also hold a meeting with Chief Minister and state government officials in Guwahati.
