HP leads the Personal Computing market in India with 16.5% market share in Q4 2012
March 6, 2013, New Delhi: Hewlett-Packard is India’s No.1
PC brand with a 16.5% market share in Q4 2012. This is as per the latest
data released by IDC, a leading provider of global IT research and
advice. HP has regained the overall top position in Q4 2012 with a
market share gain of 3.5% on a year-on-year basis.

HP Printing and Personal Systems (PPS) Group offers desktop and
notebook personal computers, workstations, handheld computers, inkjet
and laser printing systems, calculators, software, and accessories.
Globally, HP shipped 62 million PCs per week or 2 PCs every second, last
year. HP’s success has been driven by a history of innovation and
technological leadership as well as an established record of industry-
leading profitability.
Mr. Venu Reddy, Research Director, IDC said, “HP has
moved into #1 place in CY Q4 2012 (Oct-Dec 2012) driven by strong
sales/marketing campaigns and good mind-share among consumers. This
momentum was driven by the fact that portable computers continue to gain
in dominance among the PC market segments despite weaker overall PC
marketplace.”
HP in December 2012 its first ultrathin hybrid PC, HP ENVY X2,
which offers advantages of two devices in one, along with a new
portfolio of touch-enabled Ultrabook™, notebooks and All-in-One PCs. HP
ENVY x2 is a notebook that doubles as a tablet; it has a detachable
screen that becomes a full tablet when separated from the keyboard via a
seamless magnetic latch.
In January this year, HP joined forces with entertainment giants Universal Music India and Hungama.com
to launch HP Connected Music, a ground breaking and seamless service
that gives Indian consumers immense choice and access to global and
regional digital music and content. This unique subscription-based
music service provides unlimited rental downloadable music free of
charge for one year. This brand new service is available on selected HP
notebooks with the embedded Windows 8 launcher.
