Fly back to vote with AirAsia’s special low fares

SEPANG, 10 APRIL 2013 – AirAsia, the world’s best low cost carrier  is offering low fares to  Malaysians who will be traveling home to cast their vote in the upcoming Malaysian 13th General Elections.

Malaysians living across the region will be able to return home for the upcoming elections with all-in-fares from as low as RM55 one wayfrom Indonesian cities such as Medan, Padang, Balikpapan, Palembang, Pekanbaru and from RM89 one way from Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta and Solo. For those in other Asean cities such as Yangon, Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City; all-in-fares to return to Malaysia are only from RM124 one way. Those in Singapore can also easily return to Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuching, Miri and Kota Kinabalu from RM120 one way, all-in.

As for domestic flights throughout Malaysia, all-in-fares start from RM29 one way for routes such as Kuala Lumpur – Johor Bahru, Penang, Alor Setar, Terengganu, Langkawi and more; while all-in-fares from Kuala Lumpur – Kuching, Sibu, Sandakan, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and more start from RM59 one way.

Flights are also available from other hubs in Malaysia such as Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu at low fares. AirAsia flies from Johor Bahru to Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Miri and Sibu; from Penang to Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu; from Kuching to Sibu, Miri, Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and Penang; and from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau, Labuan, Kuching, Miri, Sandakan, Sibu, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad said, “With the announcement of Malaysia’s 13th General Election, we foresee many Malaysians will be making travel plans to return to their respective constituents to carry out their responsibilities as a voter, and we hope that our low fares will help provide convenience for people to fly back for the elections. Flying back to vote would be a better choice, especially with AirAsia’s high frequencies for domestic flights, which will enable many to plan a day trip for the Election, and probably the best way to avoid congestion on the highways.”

The special low fares are already available for booking on AirAsia’s website www.airasia.com for immediate travel period, as well as via AirAsia’s mobile booking platforms through WAP enabled phones at mobile.airasia.com and AirAsia apps on iPhone and Android devices.

Guests are encouraged to pre-book their check-in baggage allocation online along with their flight bookings as they are able to save up to 66% as compared to checking-in their bags over the airport counter.

Apart from that, guests are also able to pre-book their in-flight meals with a wide variety of hot meals available on board with an option to book up to two meals for each guest. Check-in baggage allocation, in-flight meals, Pick-A-Seat, travel insurance and more are all available online and guests are able to add or make changes to their booking very simply through ‘Manage My Booking’.
