Salwan boys outshine, defeating CAV Inter College, Uttar Pradesh
New Delhi, 26th April 2013: The players from Salwan Boys – Delhi won their third match in a row by beating CAV Inter College, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh by 38 runs at the Jamia Hamdard University Ground. Delhi won the toss and elected to bat first, putting up a score of 237 for the loss of 6 wickets in 45 overs for Uttar Pradesh to chase. Prashant Vashisht who scored 53 and Vikas Dixit who contributed 43 runs to the board ably supported Man of the Match Kaif Ahmad in his match-winning knock of 74 in 45 balls.

Though Anuj Singh and Harsh Sharma did well to take 3 and 1 wicket respectively for their school, the CAV batsmen could not meet the target and were all out for 199 runs. While Vikas Dixit sent 3 batsmen home giving 36 runs in 9 overs, Manish Sehrawat took 2 wickets for 30 runs in 8 overs for Delhi.

Top scorers for the losing team were Rangrajan Divedi with 48 runs and Abhishek Yadav with 42.

In another match, Strong batting line up of Shaik Mehboob and Hashir Dafedar helped Mumbai’s Anjuman I-Islam Allana Eng School beat Gowtham Model School, Hyderabad by 6 wickets and outshine on day 3 of U-16 Inter-State leg Coca-Cola Cricket Cup which was played on Bharat Nagar Ground.

Hyderabad’s Gowtham Model School won the toss and opted to bat. None of their batsman managed to stick to wicket and score good runs. The bowling attack and acute fielding of Anjuman I- Islam was strong as Shoeb Khan and Hashir Dafedar took 2 wickets each. Gowtham’s M.S.R Charann scored 37 runs in 90 deliveries (5 4’s) for Gowtham Model School.
