European leaders on video conference
Leaders of major European nations held a video conference Thursday to consolidate their opinions on key issues ahead of the Group of Eight summit this weekend.German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Francois Hollande and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti were joined by President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy.They discussed developments in Greece, growth strategies and ways for Europe to boost trade with the United States.The participants did not disclose details of the talks. But diplomatic sources say Cameron sought decisive measures to prevent the eurozone's debt crisis worsening.The sources also say the British leader called for Europe as a whole to take measures to stimulate the economy and implement structural reforms.Cameron asked Euro as whole to take steps to stimulate economy and take up structural reforms.
