Leaders reaction to Petrol price hiked

UPA II completed three year rule and the both house of parliament completed budget session on Tuesday.On Wednesday government announcement of the steepest ever hike, petrol price is increased on Wednesday by Rs 7.50 a litre with effect from midnight tonight.Mamata Chief of TMC is against this hike. State-owned oil firms said they will raise petrol price by Rs 6.28 per litre excluding local sales tax or VAT. The hike translates into Rs 7.50 per litre in Delhi.Petrol in Delhi currently costs Rs 65.64 a litre and after the increase it will be priced at Rs 73.14 per litre.Petrol prices have been increased by seven rupees fifty paise a litre. It will be effective from midnight.State-owned oil companies have decided to raise petrol price by six rupees twenty eight paise per litre excluding local sales tax or VAT.
Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the domestic unit recorded its steepest fall ever by dipping below the crucial levels of Rs 55 and Rs 56 per dollar within a span of two days, forex dealers said.
After a lower start at 55.82,the rupee continued its downward journey by losing 74 paise at 56.13 at 1350 hrs is also a cause of concern.
In Mumbai,the petrol now costs 70 rupees sixty six paisa but after midnight it will go up to 78 rupees sixteen paisa.
On Tuesday, Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy had said that there was an immediate need to raise fuel prices
