“Indo- Vietnamese Co-operation in Emerging Asia”
13102014
Dear Mr. Sagar
Round Table Discussion: “Indo- Vietnamese Co-operation in Emerging Asia”
DATE: October 20th 2014
VENUE: India International Centre, Conference Hall-II.
India-Vietnam relations have been exceptionally friendly and cordial since their foundations were laid by Prime Minister Nehru and President Ho Chi Minh more than 50 years ago. The traditionally close and cordial relations have their historical roots in the common struggle for liberation from foreign rule and the shared development experience. India’s thrust under the ‘Look East’ policy combined with Vietnam’s growing engagement with India has paid rich dividends. India is now among the top ten trading partners of Vietnam. Vietnam is now well established as an important regional partner for India in South East Asia. India and Vietnam closely cooperate in various regional forums such as ASEAN, East Asia Summit, Mekong Ganga Cooperation, Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) and in multilateral organizations like the UN and WTO.
To add further momentum and substance to this growing relationship, President Pranab Mukherjee had made a state visit to Vietnam on September 15th 2014. This is being now followed up by the visit of the Prime Minister of Vietnam H.E Nguyen Tan Dung, who is scheduled to visit India in the last week of October.
As a curtain raiser to the forthcoming Prime Ministerial visit, Pahle India Foundation (PIF) is honoured to organize a Round Table on “Indo- Vietnamese Co-operation in Emerging Asia” on October 20th 2014 at Conference Hall-II, India International Centre at 9.30 AM.
PIF is a registered not for profit organisation. PIF’s Mission is to contribute innovative ideas for designing an innovative development paradigm for India to complete its economic transition and emerge as a high-income country by 2050. In identifying this paradigm, PIF roots itself in the Indian experience; draws upon the globally best available economic, social and political analysis on sustainable prosperity; and draws lessons from success stories of sustainable development from within India. (Please see attached brochure). One of the key areas of our work is to undertake innovative studies for articulating India’s national interests and aligning our Foreign Policy to these national interests.
It is my great pleasure and privilege to invite you on behalf of PIF to take part in the Round Table and contribute your valuable inputs. I am attaching a copy of the tentative program for your reference. We invite you to join us for lunch afterwards. A line in confirmation to Ms Neena Bhatia (neenavbhatia@gmail.com) or Ms Nibedita Saha (nibeditas@gmail.com) of your participation would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Yours Sincerely
Rajiv Kumar,
(Managing Director- Pahle India Foundation)
