Cairn Juniors Hockey Cup 2015 enters day three

New Delhi, January 17, 2015:
The inaugural Cairn Juniors Hockey Cup 2015, being played at the
Shivaji Stadium in the city entered day three today. In a junior
(Under-17) match GCSBV, Shapurjat played an exciting tie against Army
Public School (APS), Daula Kuan. GCSBV took an early lead through a
Vicky Kumar goal in the 3rd minute, however APS came back
quickly to level the score with a goal from Lovleen. After an intense
battle both the sides settled for a 3-3 draw. Lovleen scored two goals
and Akash scored one goal for APS, meanwhile Vicky Kumar, Ritik and
Prince scored a goal apiece for GCSBV.
The
other match in the junior category was played between SVB Janakpuri and
Delhi Police Public School, where SVB won a comprehensive victory with a
4-0 scoreline. SVB took the lead in the 8th minute through a goal from Ashish. Rahu Sharma double the lead for SVB in the 20th minute and scored another goal in the 46th minute. Aman was the other scored for the victors.
The
last game in the junior’s category ended in a goalless draw between
Anglo-Arabic SSS, Ajmeri Gate and GBSSS, Mahrauli. Both the teams
created several chances but failed to capitalize.
In
a sub junior (Under 14) match Yogi Arvind SBV, Ambedkar Nagar produced a
clinical performance to beat Manavasthali, Manasarovar Garden 3-0. Yogi
Arvind SBV took the lead in the 6th minute and added another two in the 45th and 48th minute. Harsh K Tandon, Sanjay Soni and Abhay Kumar scored one goal each for the victors.
In
another sub junior match GBSSS, Saket G thrashed GBSSS, Dilshad Garden
7-0. The boys from Saket came up with a dominating performance, with
Satyava scoring a fine hat-trick. Abhinav scored a couple and Jayant and
Ritik scored a goal each for the winning side.

4th Gun for Glory Shooting Championship

Pune, January 17: In the third day of 4th Gun for Glory Shooting Championship there has been some change in the line-up of the leading shooters of the different events.
World Cup player Ayonika Paul without
any doubt has managed to top the chart in the 10m Rifle (ISSF) Women
event with 417.3 points. Maharashtra’s Pooja Ghatkar who is also a
student of Gun for Glory Shooting Academy took the second place in the
qualification round with 414.4 points. Scoring 413.6 Mampi Das is on the
third leading position followed by Shriyanka Sadangi, Vedangi
Tulzapurkar, Neha Chaphekar, Anjali Bhagwat and Priya Agarwal.
In
the 10m Rifle (ISSF) Men, Akhil Sheoran, upcoming shooter from Uttar
Pradesh managed to top the list by scoring 621.4 and push Fulchand
Bangar down by one place. Fulchand who had scored 618.0 is now in the
second position followed by Swapnil Kusale, Ranjeet Singh, Ariban
Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Shaji K. and Pratik borse.
The events will start 8:30am onwards
tomorrow. The final of 10m Rifle (ISSF) Men will be played at 10:00am
and the final of 10m Pistol (ISSF) Men will be played at 12 noon
tomorrow at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge –
Balewadi.

Trend in FDI equity inflows over the months

The FDI equity inflows in the month of November 2014 are
estimated at around US$1.5bn as against about US$1.6bn in November 2013,
posting a negative growth (Y-o-Y) of 6.17%. The growth in FDI equity
inflows stands at around 116.6% in October, (-) 35.1% in September, (-)
9.2% in August 2014 and 111% in July 2014. Note: FDI equity inflows are in US$mn
The total FDI equity inflows, in the period April-November 2014-15 are estimated at around US$18.8bn; representing an increase of around 22% over the FDI equity inflows of about US$15.4bn for the corresponding period last year.

Mauritius tops the chart as an investing country, with the top investing sectors including the services sector (includes financial, banking, insurance, non-financial / business, outsourcing, R&D, courier, tech. testing and analysis). Also, Mumbai and New Delhi are observed to be the cities attracting the highest FDI equity inflows.
Service sector and construction development constitute the highest share in attracting FDI equity inflows during April 2000-October 2014 of around 18% and 10% respectively. Telecommunications has also been able to attract about 7% of FDI equity inflows during the same period. Computer software and hardware constitutes 6% share while Drugs and pharmaceuticals and Automobile Industry constitute 5% share in total FDI equity inflows. Chemicals (other than fertilizers), Power and Metallurgical Industries constitute share of about 4% in FDI equity inflows and lastly, Hotel and tourism constitute share of about 3% share during the period.

SURABAYA, 17TH JANUARY 2015 – AirAsia
Indonesia wishes to update on the latest developments on the search and
rescue (SAR) operations led by the National Search and Rescue Agency
(BASARNAS) Republic of Indonesia.
The recovery
mission of QZ 8501 aircraft main fuselage continued to be hampered by
a thunderstorm that surrounded the primary search area with sea waves
reported around 3 – 5 meters high. However, SAR divers and
vessels were on standby in the area to continue the seafloor observation
whenever possible.
In addition, the three
passengers which were located in the sea near Sembilan Island, South
Boreno –approximately 650 kms from the point in which the aircraft lost
contact – have arrived at Bhayangkara Hospital, Surabaya this
morning for identification purposes.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Victim Identification Police
Department Republic of Indonesia (DVI POLRI) announced that five
passengers have been identified as: Yenni Soewono (female), Kho Kusuma
Chandra (male), Sesha Aldi Krisputra (male), Bob Hartanto Wijaya (male),
Albertus Eka Surya Yulianto (male). AirAsia Indonesia officially handed over the passengers to their respective families this afternoon.
To
date, BASARNAS has confirmed to have recovered a total of 51 remains of
which 45 have been identified by DVI POLRI and 6 are still being
identified.

Can the BJP make its stand clear on full statehood for Delhi ?
The Aam Aadmi Party challenges the BJP to make its stand clear on the issue of full statehood for Delhi.
The BJP, which twice during past one year, promised full statehood for Delhi – first during 2013 December assembly elections and then during 2014 Lok Sabha elections – appears to have gone back on its promise.
Contrary to what BJP infact has been promising since last two decades for Delhi, Mrs Kiran Bedi has stated on Friday (Hindustan Times page 6) that “full statehood is not the main issue right now.”
The AAP dares the BJP to let the people of Delhi know whether is this statement its official stand ?
The BJP is going back on all its promises it has made to the people of Delhi. Prime Minister himself has made light of the BJP’s election promise of reducing electricity tariffs in Delhi by 30%.
During the January 10 rally at Ramlila Maidan, the Prime Minister spoke about bulbs which will save Rs 300 every year.
He led from the front in evading the BJP’s promise for the people of Delhi. The AAP challenges the BJP to make its position clear on power tariffs in Delhi.
The AAP reiterates its commitment to the people of Delhi for getting a full statehood status. It is important since DDA, Police and MCD need to be fully under the Delhi government for the reasons given below :

- DDA for land and housing issues. How can a Delhi government have control over land usage and allocation for its people if it has no say in it?
- Police: Fixing accountability for Delhi’s law and order. Other parties just keep stating full statehood as a poll promise. They don’t do it even when they have the same governments at the Centre and in the state. Actually, the central government can unilaterally do it.
- MCD: Synchronization in utilisation of resources in health and education is needed which is very poor right now. Currently, the MCD is horribly planned and extremely corrupt.

Last year, the Kenyans completed a clean sweep clinching the top three places, but this year their party could be ambushed by the Ethiopians who are led by the experienced Dereje Debele, Shume Hailu and Tesfaye Abera. The 29-year-old Debele, who has a personal best time of 2:07:48, has not had a very impressive season last year, but this time around he is expected to produce a strong run. Hailu comes into this race with wins in the Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes and the Rome Marathon, both with timings of a little over 2:09, while Abera, is a promising athlete who will be making his debut.
However, the 30-year-old Ruto, who finished in 2:09:33 last year and narrowly missed the course record, is set to defend his title. He also has a promise to fulfil as during the post-race press conference last year, Ruto said that he would return next year and try to finish the race in 2.07 or 2.08. So we can surely expect Ruto, whose personal best his 2:07:47, to keep his promise.
Besides Sugut, who returns after an injury lay-off in 2014 and Kibet, the other Kenyan runners are Jacob Cheshari, Filex Kiprotich, Michael Chege, Benard Rotich, Peter Kosgei, Silas Kipruto and Bernard Kihanya.
Meanwhile, the women’s defending champion, Dinknesh Mekash will spearhead a strong field of seven runners from Ethiopia and with just two Kenyans in the fray, they are expected to dominate the event. The 30-year-old Mekash, who trains in Addis Ababa, will have to watch out for Kenya’s Gladys Kipsoi, if she hopes to retain her title.
The Kenyan athlete Kipsoi, who finished second to Mekash last year, had said earlier this week that she wants to win the race and has trained hard and would give her best to emerge a clear winner.
Defending champions Karan Singh and three-time winner Lalita Babar are the faces of the Indian challenge in the men’s and women’s categories But this time Karan of Army Sports Institute will face strong competition from seasoned runner Ram Singh Yadav, who has a vast experience in long distance running.
Rashpal Singh of Sikh Regiment, Jabalpur Centre, who finished second last year, and Ratiram Saini from Rajasthan are the others who could halt Karan from defending his title.
Meanwhile, veteran Kerala athlete O.P. Jesha will pose a major threat to Babar and prevent the Maharashtra runner from extending her reign on the women’s crown. The Keralite who is making her marathon debut had earlier said that she has nothing to lose and would go all out to push for a first place finish.
From this year there is an added incentive for the Indian participants in Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, as TCS will sponsor top two Elite Indian (male and female) runners who finish in the first and second positions at the TCS New York Marathon.
The weather will play a big role. If the temperatures drop then the people of Mumbai will witness a great race and exciting moments.

top of the leaderboard at seven-under-137 at the end of round two of the
PGTI’s Pre Qualifying II for the 2015 season being held at Eagleton –
The Golf Resort near Bangalore.
A total of 41 players qualified from Pre Qualifying II for the Final Qualifying Stage as seven players were tied in 35th position when the cut was declared at five-over-149.
K Raghav Bhandari made an eagle, four birdies and four bogeys in his round of 70 on Saturday. Md Nazim carded four birdies and three bogeys in his final round of 71.
Raju Singh (71-68) of Noida finished third at five-under-139.
