Sicilia, 1890. The sudden disappearance of the bank-teller Patò,  acting in the role of Giuda during a passion play ‘Mortorio’ in a sicilian village Vigata in 1890 gives rise to two hilarious characters Ernesto Bellavia and Paolo Giummaro start investigating and finding out that nothing is as it seems in the life of this irreprehensible man.

His mother Stefania is loving but suffocated by bourgeois conventions; his father Vincenzo has unrealistically high expectations of his children; his aunt Luciana is an eccentric; his sister, Elena, a frustrated housewife; and then there is his rebellious grandmother, trapped in the memory of an impossible love. Tommaso has come home from Rome for an important family dinner at which his father will hand over the management of the Pasta factory to him and his brother.
